An island favorite is Lola's which closed once but was reborn.
Let's hope they make it through the winter! Great food, music, and company.

The MV mug museum went to their first "Sharks" game tonight - beautiful weather and great crowd. This is a highly recommended addition to summer activities on the island. Cupcakes are a culinary phenomenon and not to be outdone they have come to the Vineyard. Sweet E's opened this year and we hope that they come back. I have not had one but several visitors really recommend this as a very special treat. They have a great mug so I know they must be very special.

As mug of the month for October, another coffee shop - Mocha Mott's is a long standing coffee shop in Oak Bluffs (and now in Vineyard Haven). This is a classic mug - I haven't seen anything but plastic in there lately. The coffee and baked goods are always great and they are open late in the evenings. Always a friendly scene.

Mug of the Month - Island Alpaca

This mug was a great find by some recent guest curators of the mug museum. Alpacas are very interesting animals and have recently found a home on the island. The Island Alpaca is a great place to get to meet some of these animals and get a chance to explore the great yarn and products that they help to produce. Definitely worth a visit to an open house and the shop.

You can always tell a great golf course from the coffee mugs. Farm Neck has created a number of mugs in various shapes and colors over the years and this latest one is a favorite of mine.

Farm Neck is also a fabulous golf course - beautiful views and challenging holes. The landscaping is breath taking at every season. Great food in the restaurant and wonderful practice area.

We have a college reunion golf tournament every fall after the greens fee rates drop.

Cronig's Market is our standard for food on the island. They are a great source of local produce, baked goods, and prepared foods. They have a great selection of "green" cleaning and paper products which are easy to find and well integrated within each department. The bulk spices and grains are handy and the vegetarian product selection is awesome. A day biking or beaching always causes us to eat hardy!

Twin Oaks Inn is two inns - the Hanover House and the Clark House. We have stayed at the Hanover House when our own house was not available. Very convenient location (close to town and the ferry) and the best mugs - they have several varieties but this is my favorite.

The Crocker House Inn is a wonderful place in Vineyard Haven - close to town and the ferry.

We have stayed there in the winter when our own house is closed. It is a haven of warmth in the off season and I am sure wonderful in season as well.

The hosts - Jynell and Jeff Kristal - are great hosts. Jynell designs and makes her own mugs and other items! I find this one really captures the spirit of the island.
